While walking in Downtown Bluffton on West Market, it’s hard to miss the glimmer of the copper logo hand painted on the window front of Bourbon M.D. thanks to The Old Five and Dime Sign Company. That same glimmer followed through introductions from owners Joey Mossburg & Nathan Dirig.
The initials ‘M.D.’ of the business are derived from owners Last names ‘Mossburg & Dirig’.
The dreamers behind the establishment have combined their hobbies to create a unique destination offering food, spirits & cigars. Joey’s interest in unique bourbon varieties and Nathan’s knowledge of Cigars from all over the world are combined at The Bourbon M.D. Joey says “They just go together- a classic pairing”.
Quite the classic pairing, with the ambience to match. The bourbon and cigar lounge boasts of high stamped tin ceiling, embracingly warm green walls, exposed brick, original hardwood flooring, and the most unique bar top. Sourced by Nathan from a fallen utility pole, the timber was restored and utilized as their gorgeous bartop thanks to Tyler and Kae from Mill on The Hill of Fremont, IN. Many conversations are sure to take place over this unique installation tying the owners careers to the lounge.

Owners Nathan and Joey’s full time jobs as lineman operators put them on the road a lot. These blue-collar boys have seen the United States from all over and would be happy to share when you visit. They are happy to welcome anyone and everyone, whether you know a little or a lot about cigars and bourbon. “There's a need for education about the varieties of bourbon and cigars. Much like regions of coffee can bring different flavor profiles, the same can be said for cigars and bourbons. We hope to offer the ‘unicorns’ that are hard to find and be a must-stop for those who share our same passions” says Nathan. “But we want everyone to feel welcome to share the experience with friends and loved ones”.
The establishment permits smoking per state laws and regulations but to cigars only. Thanks to ‘smoke eaters’ that remove up to 95% of the smell and ambient smoke. A humidor that fills an entire room of the building is lined with special Spanish cedar. The humidity controlled storage maintains 70% humidity and 70 degree temperature to preserve cigars for optimal condition.

In addition to their extended offerings of bourbon and cigars, their menu will include a signature select few cocktails with the option for mocktails. Domestic beers, local wines, and non-alcoholic options will also be available. The food menu will include light bites such as a cheese ball flight, paninis, charcuterie, curated desserts, and more to perfectly pair with your beverage or cigar.
The Wiecking Room V.I.P. lounge offers private lockers, bathroom, and snack nook complete with popcorn and coffee bar for members to enjoy retreat away from the main space for close conversation. The two owners started renovating the building of their new venture in fall of 2024 and discovered a bit of history in the process that felt like their passions were destined to exist in its current structure. Two women stopped in on a day they were renovating to share that their great-great grandfather had owned a cigar factory and even brought a bit of tangible history. The name Wiecking is now an ode to the history of Bluffton’s Wiecking cigar factory and business located in the very same building decades prior.
“We enjoy rubbernecking!- I’ll stop what I’m working on to invite them in and look around” Joey says. The feeling of support and excitement is seen from passersby and the community as a whole. “We plan to host events with live music, tastings, pairings, vendor visits and hope they cater to lots of interests and backgrounds of bourbon/cigar experience” says Nathan.
